Why do People Move to Different Places?

We have started out first unit of inquiry for the year. It is a Social Studies unit, and we are exploring the ideas around why people move to different places to live, and what connections they have with a certain place.  We will be aiming to understand what migration is and the reasons for migrating.

We began yesterday with a class discussion to get the kids talking.  We recorded the ideas on paper, to use as a reminder, for when the kids use their Inquiry exercise books.  Below is a picture that shows what was shared yesterday.

One aim for the inquiry is to understand what questions we have, or what puzzles us about migration.  With these questions, we can explore the unit from the perspective of the kids.  So keep asking about what is happening with this Social Studies unit.
