Surveying, Gathering, Organising and Presenting Data.

This is a picture of some classmates working beside each other on the little maths project.

Over the first weeks at school we have been exploring what it takes to present information on a graph. We have completed the process of surveying classmates, recording data using tally marks and graphing the data.  Now the attention has turned to putting our knowledge to a little assessment.  We have a poster in the class (generated with the kids knowledge), which they can use to check if they are on the right track.  They can see what stage of the process they are up to.

We are now integrating maths with our writing with the next survey.  The kids are checking a classmates writing and surveying the type of details they have included.  Have they included descriptions about what they might have seen, or heard, felt or tasted.  After all is said and done we have a little criteria, against which the kids can assess themselves.
