We also started to get used to learning with the new furniture. I think it is going to work well. The students seem to enjoy the tables as opposed to the desk, in a modern learning environment.
Today we created learning buddies. There will be times when the kids will get with their buddies to help with various types of learning opportunities. This helped with the idea of collaborating with one another, which we will build on through the year.
The main idea of the day was to get the kids up and talking with each other, to break the ice. One of the activities we used was a small writing exercise brainstorming things we love. Then the kids were up mixing and sharing their ideas.
The new read aloud was introduced today. Frindle, by Andrew Clements is the book we have just begun. Please ask how the story is going.
